OPENING FOR A LEGEND
So, I was chilling in Kansas City on my parents’ couch looking for some new headphones when I came across a contest from Polk Audio to create a video covering the track “Listen to the Music.” Two days later I was chilling in Detroit on the couch in the studio producing an electro-pop cover with my friends’ band FLASHCLASH. Five days after that my directing partner and I shot a music video and posted it for the contest. Over the next week, I ran a small social media campaign and used a vanity URL to push people to the voting page. The next thing I know we’re in Vegas at the Hard Rock, I am the band’s creative director and they are opening for John Legend at a private event for Polk. Polk was super impressed with everything we did to win the contest. I ended up doing some consulting for them and helped plan their SXSW showcase. But the best part, I haven’t bought new headphones in years.
